Gurgaon introduces toll-free number to address MCG property tax concerns.

Residents facing property tax issues in Gurgaon can now call on toll-free number 1800-180-1061for help. The complaints from the call centre will be directed to the officials concerned so that people do not have to run from pillar to post to get their MCG property tax issues resolved.

In response to increasing concerns regarding property tax, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) introduced a toll-free tax number (1800-180-1061) for grievance redressal. The calls from the help centre will be routed directly to the officials concerned, so that people do not have to travel to the MCG property tax office.

Recently MCG conducted a poll post which new property IDs were created. However, it triggered a backlash among property owners who complained of incorrect registration of addresses and names. Residents remarked that the new MCG property tax ID system was not working properly. Neetu Mehta Sodhi, a resident of Sector 22B, Gurgaon, says, "People who visited for surveys had little experience and distributed false bills. The majority of the bills received by the area residents were inaccurate. Personal and permanent address details were fine in old IDs which gave specific information, but the new ones had errors."

Prashant Sharma, a resident of E Block, DLF- 1, Gurgaon, says that the house addresses and the names of the owners were incorrect, and the authorities failed to transfer the data from the old IDs. Dhruv Bansal, Administrator and Spokesperson, Qutub Enclave Resident Welfare Association (RWA), avers, "We requested MCG to build camps and resolve the matter, but there was no response. We are receiving complaints about new property tax IDs every day.” Senior citizens have been the most troubled with the new documents because they are not technology savvy.
